How our Lawn Care Program Works

1st Turf Elite provides continuous lawn services for all of our programs in order to make your lawn and landscape healthy and green. We do not ask our customers to sign contracts, and will continue service year after year unless advised otherwise by you our customer. If there are any questions or concerns about your lawn, remember we are just a phone call or e-mail away.

  This program is designed to help prevent and control insect and disease problems, as well as provide the plants with all their fertilization needs. This program is not a guarantee for all problems that may occur on your plants. Problems like boring insects, cultural problems, watering and certain systemic diseases cannot be controlled with this program. We do not treat any plants over 20ft tall.

   Our company does mechanical core aeration or vertical seed slicing and then over seeds. The big advantage here is that aeration opens the soil and provides a better germination area by improving seed to soil contact. After the seed is planted, the care you give a new lawn during the first year is very important. Consistent, frequent watering until the new seed germinates is crucial. After germination, watering frequency can be minimized but should remain consistent. 

  Top dressing is the process of applying compost, soil or sand over the surface of your turf. It has been performed on baseball, football, soccer athletic fields and golf courses since the sport was invented in Scotland, but has only recently become popular on home lawns.

Topdressing is often recommended for the modification of the root zone as well as leveling and smoothing the surface. There are several reasons that have emerged for topdressing, which are: thatch control, soil modification, smoothing and leveling, covering of seed during over seeding, recycling organic wastes through composting and winter protection. Two of these reasons are concentrated on in our area for lawns and athletic fields, thatch control and leveling/smoothing.

 This program is designed to help prevent and control insect problems. This program is not a guarantee for all problems that may occur on your Turf & Plants. Problems like boring insects, cultural problems, watering and certain systemic diseases cannot be controlled with this program.

 This disease attacks slowly-growing, warm-season grass in cool, wet weather, and is most common on semi-dormant or grass that is going into or emerging from dormancy. Damage can persist through cool, wet conditions and often lasts until warmer spring or summer conditions allow for recovery and active regrowth.
